Boyd Chan

My name is Boyd and I’m a Service Management Specialist with a knack for operational data gathering, transformation, analysis and reporting. In 2012, I obtained my Masters of Science in Information Technology through the University of New South Wales @ The Australia Defence Force Academy (UNSW@ADFA). I was also part of an online community known as the Panasonic Insider Crew in the capacity of “Insider Guru” for Panasonic Australia where I interacted with other tech enthusiasts and find out more about Panasonic's latest gadgets. I love technology, gadgets, and the Internet and maintain a keen interest in these areas locally, nationally, and globally. I hope by sharing my views on these topics that people will receive an honest point of view from someone with a genuine interest in these topics. I have also written and edited articles for Neowin - you can check out my articles over @ https://www.neowin.net/news/poster/boyd_chan I hope you enjoy reading my blog!

The Apple Double Format, Network Shares and uTorrent

This might be a bit of an edge case for most people but for those of us with heterogeneous networks with a mixture of Windows and Mac OS X computers you may come across hidden files starting with “._” (so something like “._humptydumpty.doc”) and may or may not correspond with a filename of the same …

What made things easier for me this year was …

Just a quick one tonight. With the release of new devices (iPods, iPhones and iPads) there is usually a prerequisite update for iTunes to …

Here’s a quick tip for users of Windows 7. With the number of computers growing in homes and small businesses it can be hard to keep track of how things are connected without following all of the network cables and drawing up a schematic of the network. Now, maybe the dedicated amongst us would prefer …

MacOS X and NTFS – Will it Blend?

In the Windows world the best file system to be using is NTFS (New Technology File System), hands down. Compared to legacy FAT file systems (including FAT32) the robustness, reliability and scalability of NTFS is undisputed. However, since NTFS is proprietary to Microsoft it is often incompatible with non-Microsoft platforms such as MacOS X. Of …
