Another short and sweet update.
I missed out on the initial release but I have placed an order for Google’s new Chromecast product. In a nutshell, it’s a dongle that you plug into your television in a spare USB socket for power as well as an HDMI socket to send video and audio to the television. Once installed, you can push content from:
- smartphones (Android and iOS),
- tablets (Android and iOS),
- computers (using Chrome for Windows or Mac).
At first glance, it’s a bit like home you can use DLNA or AirPlay to push content from one device to another. It also bundles in NetFlix but unfortunately we’re not blessed to have legitimate access to it in Australia.
Anyway, I would expect it to take a few weeks to arrive as I had to use a mail forwarding service to complete the order but at $35 it seemed cheap enough to give it a shot and share my thoughts with the world.
Stay tuned!
