RSS Feeds Arrive in Bing News

This may have slipped under the radar for some but I reckon this is a fantastic update that will have me using Bing News far more often on my Microsoft Surface. It could also be a handy alternative for those facing the prospect of being orphaned by the shutdown of Google Reader.

In the most recent update, you can now add RSS feeds as a news source. It’s really simple to do as follows:

  1. Open Bing News,
  2. Under the Get Started section tap/click Add a source,
  3. Enter in the URL to the RSS feed in the box and tap the search button at the end,
  4. Once the results show up underneath, tap the plus symbol at the right end of the box to add it.
  5. Repeat as necessary to add all feeds.

Another handy feature is that your feeds will sync across to your other Windows 8 and Windows RT devices to give you a similar experience to how Google Reader worked. However, the sync can take a little while to work its magic so you might need to be a little patient.
