Here it is, the unboxing video of the Apple iPad mini!
It really came as little surprise with the success of seven inch tablets in the market in the Android space that Apple wanted to get a slice of the action. Coming in at the top end of the seven inch range at 7.9 inches the screen real estate is closer to that found in the standard iPad compared to most other tablets.
My first impression of the iPad mini is that of satisfaction. You know what you’re going to get with an Apple device in terms of build quality and the weight is quite comfortable. Whether or not Apple has gone over the top by describing the iPad mini as been built from scratch is up for debate but you wouldn’t think it to be an exercise in rocket science to produce a smaller version of an existing product minus a high resolution display while including 4G/LTE functionality that actually works in Australia.
Anyway, here is the unboxing video for the Apple iPad mini which includes a look at some of the out of box experience (I didn’t get all the way through as my wife needed to transfer her content over from her existing iPad). I also show off the iPad mini Smart Cover and compare the iPad mini against the original iPad and Microsoft Surface.
FYI – the video will be available in up to 1080p if you click on the YouTube icon under the video and change the resolution setting there.
This video was shot on a Panasonic X900M camcorder.
