Middle Click – The Unknown Shortcuts
For those on Windows 7 and Windows 8 you may not have known about the special functionality provided by middle clicking (or pressing down on the scroll wheel).
If you want to open a new instance of an application, then do the following:
- hover your mouse cursor over the application on the taskbar,
- middle click.
A new copy of the application should then open up. and populate the window menu for the selected application.
Similarly, if you want to close an instance of an application, do the following:
- hover your mouse cursor over the application on the taskbar,
- move your mouse cursor over the particular application instance you want to close,
- middle click.
The selected application instance should then disappear.
