If you’ve used Windows 8 you might have noticed that it comes with a few bundled apps including four Bing apps:
These apps are pretty slick and set the bar high for other Metro apps in terms of interface and quality.
Anyway, the team that brought these apps to Windows 8 have now brought them to Windows Phone 8 and the apps do make the transition to the smartphone screen rather well and make great usage of deep linking and live tiles and, in the case of Bing News, you can also opt into breaking news notifications. However, given the half-baked state of notifications in Windows Phone 8 this may not be useful unless you have your phone in full view all the time (as there is no concept of a notifications centre to view outstanding or recent notifications).
Out of the four apps, I am least excited about the sports app as I am not a sporting fanatic but finances, news and weather are all very useful for me. As such, your mileage may vary but these apps are all free and you’ve got nothing to lose by installing them except some small amount of storage on your Windows Phone 8 handset.
Anyway, here are some screenshots for you 🙂
Anyway, I’ll be giving them a shot so if you have any questions let me know but I already fancy the weather app over some of the available alternatives (both free and paid).
