Unlock Developer Mode in Android 4.2
Another quick tip if you’ve upgraded your Android device to version 4.2.x.
Google saw fit to hide the developer menu under Settings – I can only presume this was because everyday users were getting themselves in a pickle by mucking around with the options in there without understanding what they meant. This is perhaps not such a bad move but maybe confusing for actual developers and power users who weren’t told about the change (but they would be smart enough to look up articles such as this one to figure out what happened).
So, this is how you get back your developer menu:
- Open Settings,
- Scroll down and tap on About phone or About tablet,
- Scroll down to Android version amd tap it slowly seven times,
- You should see a message come up notifying you that you are now a developer (or words to that effect!),
- Tap the back button,
- Developer options should now be visible and should remain visible.
Easy once you know how 🙂
