Yesterday, I picked myself up a new Samsung Galaxy S III upon its launch given that I had found myself in a bit of a dire smartphone situation. My Samsung Omnia 7 has had a repeated history of corrupting its memory after a couple of months and the only solution to get it working properly was to do a hard reset, lose all of my SMS messages and reinstall all of my apps. I really fancied the Nokia Lumia 900 but the lack of news about an upgrade to Windows Phone 8 has put the idea of a new Windows Phone on hold for the moment.
To say the least it got rather tiring after the third or fourth time.
So, I fell back to my original Samsung Galaxy S but it did seem to cope with Android 4.0 AKA Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) which meant that Android 2.3.x AKA Gingerbread was the end of the line for that device. Don’t get me wrong, it’s still a good phone but my expectations have outstripped its abilities.
Bottom line, I needed a new phone which culminated in the purchase of the Samsung Galaxy S III.
Of course, it will get the unboxing treatment (in a holiday setting for a change) so stay tuned!
