Protect Your Surface Pro Tablet

I’ve had my Surface Pro 3 for several months now and, I have to say, it’s easily the best tablet I have ever owned. I’ve used a number of tablets over the years and the Surface Pro 3 is certainly the most capable and versatile of the lot.

However, for a while, I was trying to figure out the best way to protect my tablet from scratches and drops in transit. I also wanted a solution that wouldn’t impair or replace the use of the built-in kickstand which ruled out a good number of cover/case combos out there. Plus, I preferred to maintain the standard look of the tablet where possible which meant no decals or stickers. Sure, the type cover affords some protection to the screen (so long as it remains flush with the glass but nothing is keeping in there) but otherwise the rest of the Surface Pro is left prone to dings, dents and other damage.

After some research, I decided that a sleeve or slimline case was the best idea and decided upon the Incipio ORD Microsoft Surface Pro 3 Sleeve after checking the accessories page at MobileZap.

Essentially, it has a good, hard-wearing nylon exterior ready to handle the bumps, scuffs and scratches that your tablet would have otherwise weather by itself. The inside of the sleeve has lovely soft texture to it and the sleeve fits the tablet perfectly so it won’t be sliding around in there whilst stowed away. The sleeve also has some decent padding on both sides. There is a small amount of padding that ends up underneath the zipper when fastened up but I probably wouldn’t rely on this so much if the tablet is dropped on its side or on a corner whilst in the case.

To round things off, there is a separate zippered pocket where you can stash the Surface pen as well as any other tidbits you may need to use with your Surface Pro (I keep a mini DisplayPort to VGA/HDMI/DVI adapter in there to use with data projectors and video conference session).

For around $50, it’s a small price to pay to keep your tablet in good nick for years to come whilst keeping those essential accessories handy and minimising bulk when on the move. It’s certainly better than the ill-fitting plastic document sleeve I had been using a makeshift solution (which really only offered protection from scratches and scuffs, a drop would have ended in tears) until I selected a more appropriate solution. What’s more, it’s also a perfect fit for the Surface Pro 4 if you’ve decided to upgrade or if you are a newcomer to the Surface Pro range.

Don’t skimp on protecting your gadgets, folks!
