Boydo’s Off to Study ITIL Foundations

It’s been a while since I have done any formal study after graduating last year from university with my Masters of Science in Information Technology but it’s time to start reactivating the old grey matter.

This time around, I am focusing upon something that I covered in Information and Communication Technology Processes (ZITE8144 at UNSW@ADFA), specifically ITIL or Information Technology Infrastructure Library. The entry point for ITIL kicks off with ITIL Foundations and the course I am attending will be held over three days with an exam at the end of the last day (multiple choice and a pass mark of 65%).

The aim of ITIL Foundations is to provide an understanding of the main concepts behind the management and delivery of IT service in the context of the business requirements whilst keeping “best practice” as a point of reference. The course will also cover the functions of the various departments or divisions within an IT organisation and how they work together to provide services back to their business customers. Of particular note are SLAs (Service Level Agreements) which is a good part of my current role at work whilst change management is of some interest as well.

Anyway, I am looking forward to getting stuck into it and hopefully I’ll be able to use some of my existing knowledge and experience in my study.
