A while ago I decided it was time to upgrade from the Panasonic VT20A plasma television which I reviewed here and recently it arrived. However, I had to wait until last weekend to unbox it given that the process does end up taking up a lot of room and needed some help in filming it (I didn’t think a “Blair Witch Project” type of result would have worked).
Originally, I had my heart set non the ZT60 but after finding out that it wasn’t going to be available in Australia (very sad panda) I fell back to the VT60A. I opted for the entry level 55-inch model of the VT60A which is a small upgrade from the 50-inch VT20A.
So why did I think it was time to upgrade?
In a nutshell, it came down to the following:
- with the approach of OLED displays I thought it was a good opportunity to get the latest in plasma televisions to see us through the infancy of OLED in the mass market,
- I was intrigued to try out the vastly improved connectivity options including those involving smartphones and tablets in the form of Swipe and Share 2.0 and DLNA,
- improved app performance, voice recognition, home screen capabilities and a built in webcam (handy when I fancy conversing with my wife when she is overseas),
- bigger televisions are awesome 🙂
Anyway, here’s the unboxing video for your viewing pleasure.
