Enabling Full Quality Photo Backups on Windows Phone 8
Yes, the USA has had this for ages but only in the last few days the rest of the world’s Windows Phone 8 userbase is gradually being offered the ability to enable automatic full quality backups for their photos and videos. It’s fairly easy to flick the switch as follows:
- Tap the Windows button to get back to the Start Screen,
- Tap the Photos tile,
- Swipe up from the bottom to show the menu,
- Tap Settings,
- Scroll down and tap SkyDrive under Auto upload,
- Tap Best quality (needs Wi-Fi) for both Photos and Videos,
- Tap the Windows button to exit.
As the options suggest, your full quality backups will only take place when you are connected to Wi-Fi to avoid obscene data usage on your mobile service.
One final thing, this is still taking some time to deploy across all accounts so it is possible that you won’t see these options until a few days after the initial announcement from Microsoft on Wednesday 08/05/2013.
