Using Multiple Devices on Hotel Wi-Fi

Here’s something worth a shot if you manage to get complimentary Wi-Fi with your hotel room when next you travel.

A good deal of people may think that complimentary Wi-Fi may be limited to a single device and may not even try hooking up additional devices. Depending on how the network is setup in the hotel you may actually be able to connect multiple devices to the Wi-Fi and, if you have complimentary access included as part of your package, there is certainly no harm in trying it.

I know for me it has been incredibly handy having my laptop, iPad and smartphone on the Wi-Fi particularly for larger downloads as well as unexpected uploads (including an unboxing video of the Samsung Galaxy S III here). I have been able to continue tracking my Fitbit performance as a result of having a persistent internet connection as well as my usual web browsing, e-mail and forum habits. Alas, there have also been a few calls for help from work which has required use of the VPN 🙂

That all said, you should also be careful if your hotel does not include Wi-Fi for free as you may end up paying for each device being able to access an internet connection for a specified amount of time – something that could end up being rather expensive very quickly!
