Change Search Engines in Firefox Without Touching the Mouse
Another quick tip for tonight.
If you use Firefox and can’t get enough of the dedicated search box up the top here’s a tip that will make it that little bit more powerful for you without having to touch the mouse.
If you don’t already know, the keyboard shortcut to get into the search box is Ctrl + K. That will allow you to conduct a search using the default search service but what if you wanted to use another service instead like Bing, Yahoo, eBay or Wikipedia? All you need to do is hold down the Control key and press the down arrow to choose one of your alternative services then hit Enter. To go back up the list, just hold down the Control key and press the up arrow.
While the mouse is handy, you can often do things more quickly with keyboard shortcuts – half the challenge is working out what the shortcuts are and the other half is remembering them when you need them!
