It’s been a while since I’ve written regularly but I am back!
Anyway, to kick things off again I want to share an unboxing of the latest refresh of Nintendo’s handheld console in the form of the New Nintendo 3DS XL.
I had a whole stack of vouchers that I had collected during the year which made the upgrade relatively cheap but there were two features that really clinched the deal for me, specifically:
- the faster CPU which is great for more demanding games like Super Smash Brothers as the loading times can be longer than preferred for a cartridge-based system, and
- the super stable 3D capability which uses face tracking to lock the 3D effect to your line of sight as the console moves.
There are other improved aspects such as faster Wi-Fi speeds and NFC but those were secondary considerations in my decision to purchase.
Anyway, here is the unboxing and preview video here:
I’ll share my thoughts on it once I have some more game time under my belt but I have certainly enjoyed playing Ultimate NES Remix on it to relive some classic 8-bit gaming. Stay tuned!
