Enable the Ability to Find a Lost Windows Phone 8 Handset
After you get your shiny, new Wiindows Phone 8 handset one of the first things you should do is enabled the ability to track it down should it ever become lost or stolen. For whatever reason, this is not enabled by default so here is how you do it.
- Tap the Window key to get to the Start Screen,
- Swipe left to bring up the application list,
- Scroll down to Settings and tap it,
- Scroll down the system list until you see Find My Phone and tap it,
- Enable Save my phone’s location periodically and before the battery runs out to make it easier to find.
- Tap the Window key to get back to the Start Screen.
If you want to locate your Windows Phone 8 handset, you can use the Windows Phone app for Windows 8 to locate it or you can
click this link and locate it using your preferred web browser. You can even make the phone ring to make it a bit easier to find, lock it or wipe it as a last resort.
