I had to share this because it really spoke to my inner geek.
There’s a new project on Kickstarter wanting to raise funds for light bulbs. Sounds pretty boring but these aren’t just normal light bulbs nor are these your run of the mill LED light bulbs. These are Wi-Fi enabled, remote controllable, colour changeable light bulbs!
Some of you might still be wondering what is such a big deal about this gadget.
For one, you can control all of the lights in the house (provided they are these LIFX bulbs) using your iPhone or Android device (and there are offers from Windows Phone developers to put together something as well before you ask). Ever left a light on downstairs or you can’t remember if you left a light on all the way at the other end of the house? How about if you only want the front house light or garage light on until you get into the car? Now, you can tell if they are on or off and control them remotely.
You can also set these bulbs on a timer to turn on and off automatically or even dim gradually which could be perfect for those young ones that can’t sleep without the light on. Otherwise, maybe you might like to wake up to a gentle light which might be a little easier on the eyes.
Another interesting use is the ability to have the bulbs act as notification lights. If you’re terrible at leaving your phone elsewhere in the house but want to know when you get an SMS you can configure one of these bulbs to flash a different colour briefly to let you know.
Anyway, I am considering decking out the house with these bulbs (maybe eight to ten bulbs in all) but if you want to check this out for yourself, click here.

A fantastic find indeed, and now i am seriously tempted!
I am a huge Kickstarter fan, and have either supported (on induced wealthier friends to support) products like TikTok (wristbands that straps the Nano), Pebble and Ouya. The other one i really love is the Escape Capsule, an amazing water proof cover for the iphone.
Whats amazing to me is the notion that people will pay, in advance, for something they will not necessarily own but would like in existence. There is hope for humanity.
Keep trolling, and keep us in the know.
