Office 2010 Service Pack 1 – Out of the Gates
Just a quick heads up on another development from Microsoft in what is shaping up to be a busy week for them.
Service Pack 1 for Microsoft Office 2010 has just been released and is available though Windows Update in both 32-bit and 64-bit flavours. You shouldn’t need to worry about which version you require as Windows Update will do the detection work for you.
For most, this will essentially be a roll up of all the security updates released to date for Office 2010 but there are a number of fixes delivered as part of the update including improved stability and compatibility with Office Web Apps. The release of SP1 also serves as a trigger for corporations to move to the newer versions so I wouldn’t be surprised if we see a mass migration to Office 2010 in the later half of 2011 (particularly after how disruptive Office 2007 was with its ribbon interface).
Anyway, don’t be surprised or worried to see the service pack next time you run Windows Update – grab it when you see it!
