Yesterday I published the unboxing video for the Amazon Kindle (Global 3G + Wi-Fi model)
Today, I recorded the preview video to show you around the Amazon Kindle itself. Also, you’ll get a look at its E Ink display to see how it performs as well as a peek at its experimental web browser based upon WebKit. Whilst the screen itself may look relatively bland you really need to see it for yourself to appreciate its readability and easiness on the eyes. You’re also not going to do any heavy duty browsing on the device compared to devices like the iPad or high end smartphones but it will be enough for simple browsing sessions.
As always the video is available in high definition (up to 720p) so make sure you crank up the quality if your connection can support it.
I haven’t shown off the built in MP3 playback and text-to-speech functions in this video but hope to do so later on. Audiobooks can also be downloaded onto the Kindle through services such as Audible offering another means by which to “read” books all on the same device.
The other thing that excites me about this device is the fact that all 3G downloads are free which means that this could be used whilst overseas to get around expensive data roaming charges or go through the fuss of sourcing a local SIM card. Whether or not this is a sleeping giant remains to be seen.
Anyway, stay tuned for the review!
