Mac OS X Mavericks Breaks SMB Network Shares
Well, my wife and I had a rude surprise today when her MacBook Air would no longer connect to our Windows Home Server. The operating system on the MacBook Air had been upgraded to Mac OS X 10.9 (AKA Mavericks) a while ago but this problem seemed to only manifest itself earlier this week.
The problem is a bit perplexing and despite attempting to force SMB 1.0 on the MacBook Air there has been no success.
Anyway, I am trying to find a solution without having to rollback the upgrade on the MacBook Air with options currently including:
- forcing the home server to use SMB 1.0 (but this impacts all devices),
- Using an application called SMBUp on the MacBook Air to potentially bypass the issue.
I’ll let you know how I go!
