Couldn’t Update to Windows 8.1 – 0xC1900101 0x4000D
I have a few Windows devices including my desktop, ultrabook and Microsoft Surface and have been upgrading them one by one to Windows 8.1 (or RT 8.1). My desktop and Surface upgraded without an issue but my ultrabook was unable to finish the process with the following error:
Couldn’t update to Windows 8.1
Sorry, we couldn’t complete the update to Windows 8.1. We’ve restored your previous version of
Windows to this PC. 0xC1900101 – 0x4000D
This seems to be related to installed drivers that are not suitable for Windows 8.1 for some reason. In my case, it appears that the video drivers may be the culprit. I’m attempting to source the appropriate drivers for my Panasonic AX2 but it seems that the video drivers from Intel are manufacturer specific so I am going to give some drivers a go off the USA website to see if that will let my ultrabook to Windows 8.1.
Failing that, it will be a process of elimination for other drivers such as those for the chipset and network interfaces.
