Hopefully you’ve had a chance to check out the unboxing video of the Vulkano Flow over here which went up yesterday. Of course, unboxing it is one thing but setting it up is an entirely different matter.
In Australia, the odds are that you’ll set this up with a Foxtel IQ or Foxtel IQ2 as they have built in recording capabilities whilst the entry level Vulkano Flow does without recording capability. However, if you’ve got the Vulkano Lava or Vulkano Blast then the setup process will be the same but you’ll just have a choice as to which device records television. Personally, I’d have the IQ do the recording as it has the EPG already setup whilst the Vulkano devices won’t have that native capability with Foxtel.
Anyway, when completing the setup you’ll be asked to select the manufacturer and model of the set top box. Foxtel doesn’t manufacture these boxes themselves but instead they are rebadged devices from another manufacturer (typically PACE) but this is largely irrelevant in the latest device software. All you need to do is select Foxtel as the manufacturer and IQ or IQ2 as the model.
You can then proceed with the rest of the setup where you can test the infrared controls. You’ll just need to place the two IR blasters within range of the infrared port on your Foxtel box:
- on the IQ it is the little black window to the right of the circular indicator,
- on the IQ2 it is on the right hand side of the box when looking from the front (hard to see given the whole unit it black).
From that point on, the remote control tests should pass and you should be sweet!
