Disable Programs With High Start-up Impact
Here’s a quick tip for Windows 8 users out there.
If you want to help ensure that your computer is always quick out of the blocks you might want to check out what programs impact that ability. This is really simple to do in Windows 8 as follows:
- Press Alt + Ctrl + Del on the keyboard,
- Choose Task Manager,
- Click the Start-up tab.
This will give you a list of everything that is set to automatically start when Windows boots up. Of particular interest are the last two columns which indicate the start-up impact (which can be listed as low, medium, high or not measured) and its status (disabled or enabled). To enable or disable an item just right click on it and choose the appropriate option.
Of course, if you are unsure of what you are doing then the rule of thumb would be to leave it alone and ask an expert 🙂
