Keep Track of Multiple Timezones in Windows Vista and Windows 7

Here’s a quick tip for those of you who regularly interact with people in other timezones.

If you want to get a quick glance at one or two timezones other than the one you’re in then you can add this fairly easily to the “Date and Time” section in Windows. Just click on the time (in Windows Vista) or the date and time (in Windows 7) in the bottom right-hand corner of your screen and then click on “Change date and time settings…” at the bottom of the window that appears.

In the new window click on the “Additional Clocks” tab you should see the following:

Additional Clocks Tab in Date and Time

All you need to do is tick “show this clock” for one or both additional timezones, select the corresponding timezone you want to add give it a label. When you’re done click “OK”. The next you click on the date or date and time in the bottom right-hand corner of your screen you should see something like this:

Now there’s no excuse for waking people up in the middle of the night (like my wife who is going to San Francisco in a week)!
