Another quick tip for tonight.
Not all of us are lucky to have desktop phones that show the weather at a glance but there is a way to get it in Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome without too much fuss.
There’s a great little add-on called Forecastfox Weather which, as you might guess, add the weather to your browser. Originally built for Firefox but later ported to Chrome, this nifty little add-on allows you to add the weather for one or more locations of interest. Furthermore, you can adjust other settings that control:
- the display of the temperature (either as number, icon or both),
- the units presented (Fahrenheit or Celsius),
- days forecast ahead,
- the presentation of intra-daily weather (day only, night only or both),
- the ability to automatically rotate through tracked locations at a given interval of time.
As you can see. I prefer to keep Forecastfox Weather tucked away down the bottom of the browser screen away from my toolbars. You also have access to satellite imagery, hourly forecasts as well as a five day outlook on the weather for the selected location.
I’ve used this for years (when it used to be called Weatherfox) and have found it to be one of the essential add-ons for Firefox. It can take a little bit of time to set it up and tweak it so it’s just right but once done you can backup your settings if you need to deploy them to other computers later on.
