Another short and sweet tip for today.
While some of us tend to leave many of the presentation features in Windows at their defaults some of us like to customise things to suit our taste. One such element of customisation is the wallpaper at the logon screen.
Unfortunately, this has always been something fiddly to configure all the way back to Windows 95 and usually required a registry hack or the use of an application in the Microsoft PowerToys suite called TweakUI (which just changed the registry value but provided a graphical interface) to make the change. Unfortunately, this application doesn’t work with Windows 7 which doesn’t help.
Anyway, you can use a nifty little program called “Windows 7 Logon Background Changer” which, as you would suspect, allows you the change the background wallpaper for the logon screen. It’s fairly simple to use, simply point it at a folder containing the images you want to preview for the logon wallpaper and click the “Apply this background” button if you are happy with what you see. Next time you log out or restart the computer you’ll see your new background.
Windows 7 Logon Background Changer is available here for free and is compatible with all 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Windows 7 except Windows 7 Starter Edition.
