Get More Out of Jumplists with Jumplist Extender

Another quick one for tonight.

Windows 7 introduced the “jumplist” feature which extends the functionality of the taskbar by allowing quick access to common features, functions and recently used files. However, users have been stuck with what software developers have deemed appropriate for their users whilst users have been unable to make their own modifications.

Until Jumplist Extender arrived.

Basically, you can import jumplist modifications created by other people. For instance, the humble calculator application has a fairly minimalist jumplist by default:

However, applying a jumplist pack gives you quick access to the other calculator modes with a mouse click:

There are a bunch of other jumplist packs available for applications such as Notepad, Filezilla, Firefox & VLC but you can also create your own using the built in editor. You can create tasks (employing keystrokes, starting a program, command line or AutoHotKey), shortcuts and categories in your custom jumplist.

So for those amongst us who like to tinker or want to improve their efficiency, Jumplist Extender may help you squeeze that little bit more out of your time at the computer.
