Take the Surprise Out of Short URLs
Very quick tip for today.
Short URLs are all over the place. They are supposed to be designed to be very small, some in order to be memorable or just to squeeze into a social media message. However, short URLs prevent you from really knowing what it is that you’re clicking on which is an inherent risk.
So, if you’re not keen to get “click happy” then you may find LongURL to be rather handy. What this service does is accept a short URL and shows you the ultimate destination of it – in essence it is reconstituting the original URL for you to see with your own eyes.
Sure, it’s perhaps not the most convenient solution if you’re just clicking or tapping around websites but if you think something looks a bit suss then you can run the URL through LongURL to be safe.
