Strange App Names When Updating Windows Phone 8 Apps
On occasion, you may notice some strange app names when updating apps under Windows Phone 8 and they may look start with the following and appear at the top of the list:
@C:\Data\Programs\{
Updating a Windows Phone 8 App
I guess for me this was interesting as it does demonstrate that there is a Windows 8 derivative under the hood judging by the fact that there is a C: partition and a nested file system.
Anyway, the reason why I reckon this naming anomaly occurs is when an app receives and update and the name is changed as part of the update. This screenshot was captured when updating one of the Nokia applications which gained the HERE moniker.
Ultimately, nothing bad will happen and the name will correct itself once the update completes so this is more of a curiosity in terms of knowledge than anything else.
