Avoiding the Allure of Incomplete Headlines
We’re seeing it more and more on websites – incomplete headlines which leave out a word or two from its headline to make you wonder what the article is about. Like the below:
Incomplete Headlines – news.com.au
All except the fourth article have complete headlines for you to click on making you wonder they are about.
However, you can beat the websites at their own game just by hovering your mouse over a link and at the bottom of the browser window you should see the full address show up which should contain the article title in it. You can then decide if it actually worth reading.
Otherwise, you might work out it is just a trashy read and click on it anyway for fun 🙂
