Here’s a quick tip – this time in the form of an app recommendation.
Maybe you need to collect family and friends from the airport quite a bit or perhaps only once every so often. Otherwise, if you’ve dropped someone at the airport you might want to keep tabs on their flight just so you know when they land. In the past, you’d have to continually poll the website of the airline with which they’re flying in order to work that out but now you can get an app for iOS and Android devices that will give you that information in real time.
Flightradar24 fills that gap and even gives you the information on the plane right down to the altitude and speed at which it is traveling. This is pretty neat and gives you an awareness of just how many planes are flying around. It’s quite amazing that they are all managed in a coordinated fashion with very few incidents!
You can track a specific flight, a specific airline or just see the whole lot flying around and tapping on flights of interest. There are also various in-app purchases available such as aircraft-specific models and arrivals board functionality however these are not critical to the base functionality of the application.
