Active TechNet Subscribers Receive Free Extension
Microsoft’s recent announcement of the end of TechNet took everyone by surprise and, in the opinion of a good number of people, the option of free evaluation software in its place just doesn’t cut the mustard. It’s a shame that the end is approaching but the end has been delayed.
If you’re a TechNet subscriber then you might be delighted to know that Microsoft is providing a one off extension of ninety days for active subscriptions. It’s a bit of a slap in the face if you’ve been caught out just before the cut off date of 1st September. It’s also a shame that with the demise of TechNet there is also a loss in access to some of Microsoft’s older products which may benefit developers who want to test backward compatibility.
Unless you are willing to fork out for an MSDN subscription then you’re left with the free evaluation software which only lasts for 90 or 180 days.
