At some point in your life you might want to get serious with your finances and actually keep track of where that hard earned cash ends up going and put something in place to make sure you are living within your means. I’m not a finance expert by any means and the extent of my prowess reaches so far as what a spreadsheet does for me at tax return time when I flick it over to my accountant.
Anyway, there are free options such as ANZ MoneyManager which will let you link your various online accounts (even from other banks) and track activity that way but I just didn’t click with it. That said, you might fancy it though. However, at the moment I am playing around with You Need a Budget.
It seems easy enough to use with the ability to sync your budget up to the cloud via Dropbox with the added convenience of iOS and Android apps so you can enter in transactions on the go. This will save you from carrying around fistfuls of receipts. Desktop apps are available for Windows and Mac OS X which should cover most bases and you’ve got 34 days in trial mode to see if it works out for you.
Anyway, I’m giving this a shot and see whether or not it is worth forking out $60 for the full version.
