Over the last few months, I’ve had an increasing number of discomfort in my elbows. Despite treatment from the chiropractor the discomfort has come and gone.
Admittedly, I spend a lot of time in front of a computer to make a living but I do fit in some physical activity most days usually in the form of walking and a session at the gym. At least inactivity is not an issue (at least in my books) so I figured that it could perhaps be attributed to having my hands and arms held in a relatively static position for hours a day over a keyboard.
The solution seemed clear – obtain an ergonomic keyboard.
I selected the Microsoft Natural Ergonomic Keyboard 4000 for use at work to break the ice. I managed to pick one up for under AU$56 including delivery which I thought was a pretty good deal. Anyway, the keyboard has three key features:
- the split keyboard to align with the natural angle of your hands and wrists without the need to bend,
- an optional stand to create a backward slope to the keyboard to further improve wrist alignment,
- the palm rest is made from a soft leatherette to cushion your palm as you type.
I’ve only had the new keyboard for a week but I have already noticed a reduction in discomfort but will report back later on with my results to make sure this is simply not a subconscious reaction.
