Intermittent Keyboard Functionality with Microsoft Surface
Here’s a quick tip for those with Microsoft Surface tablets.
You may find that despite the touch cover or type cover being connected that it may no longer register keystrokes or will do so intermittently. Removing and reattaching the keyboard might get you up and running again but this can become a bit of a pain if this issue persists.
One thing that you may try out is to clean the contacts on the keyboard with a lint-freecloth and some cleaning alcohol. I used an ISOWIPE at my work desk to achieve the same outcome. Let it dry for a minute or two to make sure all of the alcohol is gone before reconnecting the touch cover or type cover to the Surface.
Mind you, this won’t fix issues with the touch cover or type cover keyboards failing to work when woken up from a sleep state. Apparently, Microsoft are investigating reports of this particular issue at present.
