How to Repair Your Installation of Microsoft Office 2010
Sometimes, software gets corrupted during the daily grind and we need to undertake an exercise of repairing the affected software. In some cases you may need to resort to a full uninstall and reinstall (or maybe a reinstall over the top if you’re lazy but I would recommend against it) but in other situations you might have the opportunity to run a a repair before going that extra step.
Today, I found my installation of Office 2010 playing up (in particular, Outlook 2010 hung after being open for a few minutes) so I decided to run a repair. Under Windows Vista and 7, you need to do the following:
- Click “Start” then “Control Panel”,
- Click “Uninstall a Program” (or “Programs and Features” in Vista),
- Locate “Microsoft Office 2010” in the list and then click the “Change” button up the top,
- Follow the wizard through the repair process,
- Reboot your computer if prompted.
Hopefully you won’t need to use this tip at all but worth knowing just in case.
