This might be problematic if you&#8217;re using a new iOS device or a Windows Phone handset in the future.<\/p>\n<p>At least on an iOS device you can use CardDAV to continue syncing contacts and you can set this up as follows:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 12px;\">Open\u00a0<strong>Settings<\/strong>,<\/span><\/li>\n<li>Tap\u00a0<strong>Mail, Contacts, Calendars<\/strong>,<\/li>\n<li>Tap\u00a0<strong>Add Account<\/strong>,<\/li>\n<li>Tap <strong>Other<\/strong>,<\/li>\n<li>Tap\u00a0<strong>Add CardDAV Account<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Enter in the following:\n<ul>\n<li>Server: google.com<\/li>\n<li>Username: &lt;your Gmail address&gt;<\/li>\n<li>Password: &lt;your Gmail password&gt;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Tap\u00a0<strong>Next<\/strong> and finish off the configuration.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>This should get you up and running using the replacement CardDAV protocol.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Google is starting to flex its muscle a little bit in dumping Exchange ActiveSync for its Gmail service unless you are a paying customer or you have existing devices setup on a free basis.
