For those on Windows 7 and Windows 8 you may not have known about the special functionality provided by middle clicking (or pressing down on the scroll wheel).<\/p>\n

If you want to open a new instance of an application, then do the following:<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. hover your mouse cursor over the application on the taskbar,<\/li>\n
  2. middle click.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    A new copy of the application should then open up. and populate the window menu for the selected application.<\/p>\n

    Similarly, if you want to close an instance of an application, do the following:<\/p>\n

    1. hover your mouse cursor over the application on the taskbar,<\/li>\n
    2. move your mouse cursor over the particular application instance you want to close,<\/li>\n
    3. middle click.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
