Anyway to my surprise it was the Raspberry Pi that I had ordered just over three months ago – awesome!

Now, when this computer was described as tiny they really meant it. This thing has a footprint smaller than my Samsung Galaxy S III (in fact, the circuit board is smaller than just the screen on the SGS III). Check out the video to see for yourself.

Anyway, I unbox the Raspberry Pi (Model B) and also show you around the computer itself and most of the major components. The unit that I received does not have a case but I might get a clear one off eBay. Also, this computer does not ship with a power supply cable so you’ll need to source that yourself (most mobile phone chargers will work as long as it is rated between 700mA and 1200mA at 5V).

The Raspberry Pi also comes without any onboard storage so you’ll need to source an SD card to fill in that gap. That said, you wouldn’t expect a desktop motherboard to have onboard storage either. You do get two USB ports, an HDMI port and an Ethernet port which should provide the IO basics to get things going – just supply a keyboard, mouse and network cable to get going (or a USB Wi-Fi adapter if you have one).

Anyway, here’s the video of the unboxing and preview:

FYI – the video will be available in up to 1080p (YouTube can take a little while to process the higher resolutions) if you right click on the video and choose “Watch on YouTube” and change the resF3D6zxEraW8olution setting.

Stay tuned for the review video!

This morning, I was surprised to receive a package at work (which is unusual first thing on a Monday morning).
