Today, I went out to Officeworks to pick up a few things (printer cartridges, paper and some plastic sleeves but I could have easily have come back with half the st0re). For a while now, Officeworks has stopped offering plastic bags as part of the corporate social\u00a0responsibility\u00a0initiatives which is fine when you only pick up a few things but can be an absolute pain when you’ve bought a stack of small or fiddly things that don’t stack well.<\/p>\n
Anyway, Officeworks undertakes a couple of initiatives that may be handy for consumers, specifically partnerships with:<\/p>\n
Whilst some people may hang on their printer cartridges and top them up with third party inks a lot of people chuck them out in the general rubbish as\u00a0cartridges are not usually accepted in council-provided recycling bins.\u00a0Mobile phones and accessories can also go the same way particularly if they no longer work or are partially broken (i.e. smashed screen, lost cover, broken\/frayed cables or plugs, etc).<\/p>\n
The recycling bins at the store I went to at Hornsby had large bins out the front for the collection of recycling. I thought this was a better option than locating it inside the store where they could so easily lure you into buying more stuff (who can resist stationery?). However, the downside is when it starts to rain you are left making a dash to drop off your recycling and then run back to your car.<\/p>\n
So before you toss out those printer cartridges or toner or old mobile phones consider swinging by Officeworks and recycling them instead.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
