Enable or Disable Auto-Complete in Outlook

For whatever reason, you may need to disable or re-enable the auto-complete function in Outlook but locating the setting can be difficult as it differs between the various versions. As such, I thought I would consolidate the methods to re-enable this feature for each version of Outlook:

Outlook 2003/2007

  1. Click Tools,
  2. Click Options,
  3. On the Preferences tab click the E-mail Options button,
  4. Click the Advanced E-mail Options button,
  5. Tick the option Suggest names while completing the To, Cc and Bcc fields to enable the option (or untick to disable).

Outlook 2010

  1. Click the File tab up the top,
  2. Click Options towards the bottom of the menu,
  3. Click Mail in the left side menu,
  4. Scroll halfway down to the Send Messages section,
  5. Tick the option Use Auto-Complete List to suggest names when typing in the To, Cc and Bcc lines to enable the option (or untick to disable).

Outlook 2013

  1. Click the File tab up the top,
  2. Click Options,
  3. Click Mail in the left side menu,
  4. Scroll halfway down to the Send Messages section,
  5. Tick the option Use Auto-Complete List to suggest names when typing in the To, Cc and Bcc lines to enable the option (or untick to disable).
